
Kierra Oates – Musician/Photographer
Hailing from Albury/Wodonga, Melbourne based Indie – pop artist Kierra Oates has had a passion for music ever since she could remember. Growing up listening to the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Doors, Kierra developed a keen interest and love of intricate song- writing and performance. Earning a Music Scholarship after starting out on violin and piano, Kierra began immersing herself in live performance as a vocalist in high school as a member of many extracurricular groups including Jazz Quintet, Stage Band and Vocal Ensemble.
With a bubbling and growing music scene in her hometown, Kierra became involved with local Musical Theatre and performed in a range of community shows including Hairspray, Chicago, High School Musical and Beauty & The Beast Jr. Kierra began receiving private vocal tuition and joined The White Wall Gospel Choir under the direction of Simone Worsnop, and has performed to crowds of 10,000 + at events such as Albury Carols by Candlelight and The Wangaratta Jazz Festival.
Now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance at Collarts, Kierra has received guidance from names such as Katie Wighton (All Our Exes Live In Texas), Ainslie Wills and Dallas Frasca and worked with artists such as Rachael Beck and The I.G Big Swing Band. With influences such as Dodie, Kira Puru, Cub Sport and Meg Mac, Kierra brings her wide range of sounds to her song writing, to deliver you soul-stirring indie pop bangers with a touch of jazz/soul flavour at upcoming gigs in 2020.
In her spare time, Kierra also likes to practice her photography skills at gigs around the Melbourne live music scene.
